A recent roadmap leak made mention of several new Android phones headed to Verizon in the coming months, and now two have made an appearance in the inventory system of Big Red. The Motorola XT610 and Motorola Citrus (WX455) will fall on the middle to low end of the spec scale but providing two different form factors. The Citrus is said to be geared towards the younger crowd as an entry-level device featuring Android 2.1. It should feature a...

Okay, so the rumor about Verizon’s intention to block Google Search in favor of Bing can be put to bed.  Business Insider has confirmed the details of the arrangement with a Microsoft representative.  What’s the deal?  Bing will come loaded on a handful of phones, but will not be exclusive to Verizon.  Further, it will not be on all of Verizon’s devices.  In a nutshell it will be like this for some of Verizon’s phones....

First off… #FAIL! According to The Droid Guy in reviewing Verizon’s version of the Samsung Galaxy S phone, the Samsung Fascinate , Google Search is removed from the phone for Microsoft’s Bing search. Worst, it cannot be downloaded as an additional widget from the Android Market or even side loaded. Even worse, other services are swapped like Google Maps for Bing Maps and Google Maps Navigation for VZ Navigator. It is also rumored...

With the T-Mobile G2 set to launch later this month. We thought we would take a look back at the phone that started all this Android madness, T-Mobile G1 , and pin it against its young sibling in a side-by-side specs sheet and cool infographics. Who wins?!? Key Differences in T-Mobile G2 versus T-Mobile G1: T-Mobile G2 T-Mobile G1 Android OS Android 2.2 (Froyo) Android 1.6 (Donut) Internet Speed 4G (up to 14.4Mbps) 3G (up to 7.2Mbps) Processor...

With the launch of today’s Verizon Fascinate, each of the four major carriers in the United States now has a Samsung Galaxy S series phone available.  Rather than churning out the same phone over and over, each wireless provider has opted to customize their handsets with various tweaks and options.  For instance, Sprint’s Epic 4G comes with a physical QWERTY while T-Mobile’s Vibrant comes preloaded with James Cameron’s...

As we are drawing closer to the holiday season many of us that were at Google’s I/O conference in May or watched the keynotes via YouTube are getting ready for the next revolution in television. Google’s CEO Eric Schmidt made all the launch partners (Logitech included) promise that Google TV powered devices would be available “before the holidays.” Many of us are hoping that the Logitech Revue will be available by Black...

In late August, Best Buy started accepting pre-orders for the Samsung Fascinate and now the device finally has an official release date: on Thursday September 9 . The Samsung Fascinate is essentially Verizon’s rendition of the popular Galaxy S, and it will join the already available Captivate (AT&T) and Vibrant (T-Mobile). As Andrew explained in a Samsung Galaxy S Comparison Chart : “The Fascinate is coming to the nation’s largest...

Just hours before Samsung introduced its new Orion processor powerhouse yesterday, LG announced that it will ship Android phones with dual-core CPUs in Q4 this year. LG has teamed up with NVIDIA and the upcoming devices will be part of LG’s Optimus series and feature the system-on-a-chip Tegra 2 . I have always had a soft-spot for NVIDIA’s Tegra processor, but so far it has had a hard time finding its way to the market – that will...

“And they said it couldn’t do that!” Following the string of scares that started with the Droid X regarding eFuse, locked bootloaders, and killer unicorns, many were skeptical of the device’s hackability. While there is still a lot of work to be done before the device is “truly” unlocked, Droid 2 owners can now say they are able to flash their first custom ROM onto the device through Koush’s Bootstrap...

Smart phones seem to be getting bigger and bigger these days. With phones like the HTC EVO and the Droid X out there sporting 4.3” screens, you can be hard pressed to find a third party mount that fits. Arkon hopes it has the solution. With phone pulling all kinds of duties now such as mp3 player, GPS, and Car Phone, owners are hard pressed not to buy a mount. Unfortunately, with the luxurious sizes that these large phones offer, these mounts...

Nearly a month after initially launching in Canada, TELUS’ HTC Desire is sold out, temporarily.  The phone, being sold for $79.99 on a 3-year contract, has been very successful for TELUS. Never fear, my fellow Canadians, TELUS is promising that the new inventory will be coming shortly.  Also, they will be offering a $50 dollar mail-in rebate for those who have to wait.  That’s a pretty great deal, eh? The TELUS HTC Desire ships...

The HTC PD42100 — the same horizontal slider CDMA/GSM world phone we posted leaked photos of last month –has made its way through the FCC.  The device will feature Wifi b/g/n, a 4-inch screen, and possibly one of the fastest mobile processors on the market.  It is going to be a sexy, bad-ass handset. No word yet on pricing  Read More →

Just like they did before when all the cool kids were mocking antennagate (funny how a couple million dollars of free cases will silence critics so quick), Motorola is flinging the proverbial poo at Apple in their latest full-page ad for the Droid 2 found in the New York Times. This time they take Apple to task on Flash, which actually was in vogue before the whole antenna thing but has sort of settled down as the two sides more or less agreed...

Verizon’s going to be pricing the Samsung Fascinate to sell as new leaks show the device will be $199.99. It’s not much different from the pricing on other Galaxy S phones (unless you count Sprint’s extra $50 for the Epic 4G), but the text right next to the pricing lists “BOGA”: which we’ll just assume means it’ll be a part of the buy-one-get-any smartphone deals Verizon likes to run from time to time....

Many were reluctant to take part in the contest Verizon’s holding through their @DroidLanding Twitter account for the R2D2 special edition of the Motorola Droid 2. They’re doing it differently from the Droid X’s contest, though, as there are no scavenger hunts or GPS coordinates to mess around with. Instead, they tweet out codes and clues that you have to use to unlock certain areas of the R2D2’s website. Whoever is responsible...
