The HTC PD42100 — the same horizontal slider CDMA/GSM world phone we posted leaked photos of last month –has made its way through the FCC.  The device will feature Wifi b/g/n, a 4-inch screen, and possibly one of the fastest mobile processors on the market.  It is going to be a sexy, bad-ass handset. No word yet on pricing  Read More →

Huawei announced four new Android phones today, including the entry-level IDEOS. Built with Android 2.2, the IDEOS is expected to be priced between $100 and $200 when it arrives in European, Asia-Pacific, North American and Latin American markets. We’re waiting on Huawei to open up their dedicated page to learn the full details, but we do know a few goodies. There is WCDMA + WiFi dual network support as well as the capability to act as...

T-Mobile has confirmed that their next Android handset, the G2, will not be a 1GHz processor after all.  But it’s not all bad news as the carrier tells us the phone will be powered by an 800MHz Scorpion.  For those who fear that the 200MHz difference sounds slower, bear this in mind – the Qualcomm MSM7230 contains a considerably faster Adreno 205 GPU than the Snapdragon.  We’ll have to wait until the tests and benchmarks...

We can finally put the Galaxy Tab rumors to sleep.  Samsung has officially unveiled the Galaxy Tab earlier today at the IFA conference in Berlin, Germany.  Looking very much like a giant Galaxy S phone, the Tab features a 7-inch TFT-LCD, WSVGA (1024 x 600) display, Cortex A8 1.0GHz processor, 3-megapixel camera with auto-focus and LED flash and a front-facing 1.3 megapixel camera for video telephony. The tablet runs Android 2.2 and offers...

While looking at the leaked G2 pictures from yesterday, our eagle-eyed Chuck Falzone noticed something hiding in plain sight.  One of the icons listed on the home screen for the handset shows a shortcut for an app called Quick Keys.  Blowing things up a bit, he also found three hard keys on the keyboard which look much like the icon.  We’re going to Ocam’s razor approach and figure these are programmable buttons designed to give...

We’re less than a month away from the rumored G2 launch (Sept. 29) so we’re not surprised by the recent spate of leaks .  This time around, we’re being treated what’s billed as the first “official” images of the T-Mobile handset.  CellPhoneSignal has been passed three pictures of the device with carrier branding, in various angles. As a recap, the HTC device will run Android 2.2 and feature a 3.7-Inch Active...

Remember the mini Droid slider that emerged in late July?  It’s back, but this time, it’s in much clearer form. Hit the jump for a few images and videos of the device in the wild, showing a very MOTOBLUR-ish UI.  Thanks to Mobiflip.de , we know know that this little fella has a BACKTRACK pad (Backflip, Charm) and runs Android 2.1 under the hood.  Initially, we were under the impression that this would be headed to Verizon, given...

Motorola has announced a trio of new Android-powered handsets for China today, the MT810, XT806, and A1680. Each has their own standout features and help round out the Motorola portfolio, all while bringing back the familiar MING line.  You’ll notice from the pictures that these devices use a stylus as part of the input methods.  I’d like to see resistive touch screens come stateside, if only through a few models.  We’ve...

Our friend in Poland at Android.com.pl have brought to light the first pictures of the new LG E720.  Unfortunately, all we really know so far is that it is stylish, and holds a 5 Megapixel camera, but at least now we have a good deal of photos to peak our interest.  From the YouTube video , it looks like either Deutsch Telekom or perhaps even T-Mobile USA is going to be the wireless provider of choice, but as far as release dates, we don’t...

We knew the Galaxy S was doing well overseas but how would it be received here in the United States?  From the sounds of it, Samsung’s flagship line of phones is going to do just fine.  An email just hit our inbox a few minutes ago celebrating the fact that the T-Mobile Vibrant and AT&T Captivate have combined for a million handsets moved since July 15.  It looks like the print, online, and television ad campaign is paying off!...

Those Android devs never stop, do they? Hot off the heels of last week, when the Backflip and Droid 2 were both rooted, the Samsung Epic 4G , Sprint’s version of the Galaxy S phone, has also been rooted. Just days before it’s launch, the Epic 4G was rooted using a process that apparently works on the HTC Evo 4G as well. Hooray! The developers claim the process is simple, but we’ll leave such judgments to you. You can see it...

We’re getting news from Engadget that the rumored “Droid Pro” is actually a global version of the Motorola Droid 2 .  Big Red may choose to call it the “Droid 2 World Edition” or “Droid Pro,” but it’s nearly set in stone that it will be a world phone (i.e. it will work on both CDMA and GSM networks). As of  Read More →

As the title of this article (and blurrycam shot above) indicates, the guys over at ModMyMobile.com have gained root access to the MotoBlur-packin’ Motorola Backflip. I know what you’re thinking: “Another crazy root process that we’ve never seen before”, but actually, they just used the Droid 2 root method that we told you about on Wednesday and it seemed to work. Overall, it looks like the Backflip just got a little...

Google has ended their phone support for the Nexus One.  If you dial the old tech support number of 888.486.3987 today, you’ll be played a recording with a new number to call for HTC support (888.216.4736) instead.  I debated on whether or not to even post this one.  Not because it’s a minor news article, but because it probably doesn’t matter to the people it affects most directly.  To be more clear, the people who bought...
