ViewSonic announced the “world’s first” dual-boot Android/ Windows 7 tablet earlier today at IFA 2010. The Android side of things is 1.6 which might turn away tech savvy early adopters, but the rest of the tablet sounds good on paper. The Viewpad 100 comes with a 10″ capacitive LED touchscreen (1024×600), an Intel Atom N455 1.66GHz processor, 16GB SSD, and 1GB DDR3 RAM. There are also two USB ports, Bluetooth, WiFi,...

Samsung isn’t the only company announcing Android tablets today .  Toshiba just dropped the Android 2.2-powered Folio 100 on the world.  The specs read like a strong device, with its 1024 x 600 10.1-inch capacitive touchscreen, Tegra 2 processor, and 16GB of built-in memory.  Other features, like the HDMI output, SD card slot, WiFi support, and 1.3 megapixel webcam would have you thinking this will be a force to be reckoned with. Sadly,...

Built with Android 2.2, the IDEOS is expected to be priced between $100 and $200 when it arrives in European, Asia-Pacific, North American and Latin American markets. We’re waiting on Huawei to open up their dedicated page to learn the full details, but we do know a few goodies. There is WCDMA + WiFi dual network support as well as the capability to act as...

Vlingo continues to push their voice application forward, adding new features and enhancements all the time. Today finds the company partnering with foursquare to make check-ins even easier. Now, it’s possible to tap the screen and say “Check in to Taco Bell” rather than opening foursquare and checking in manually. Further, it’s possible to find out where your friends are by simply saying, “Where are my friends?”...

Although the arrival of the Justin.tv app comes after comptetors Qik and Ustream , it does offer a...

Get used to seeing a bunch of Android tablet rumors and announcements.  They are not going anywhere anytime soon.  Like the state of handsets a year ago, the future of Android is littered with devices.  Today sees LG announcing (translate) their new “Optimus Pad”.  We don’t have any specs or hard details at this point, but we’re anxious to learn what the handset maker has up their sleeves.  The more crowded the tablet...

Motorola has announced a trio of new Android-powered handsets for China today, the MT810, XT806, and A1680. Each has their own standout features and help round out the Motorola portfolio, all while bringing back the familiar MING line.  You’ll notice from the pictures that these devices use a stylus as part of the input methods.  I’d like to see resistive touch screens come stateside, if only through a few models.  We’ve...

Our friend in Poland at Android.com.pl have brought to light the first pictures of the new LG E720.  Unfortunately, all we really know so far is that it is stylish, and holds a 5 Megapixel camera, but at least now we have a good deal of photos to peak our interest.  From the YouTube video , it looks like either Deutsch Telekom or perhaps even T-Mobile USA is going to be the wireless provider of choice, but as far as release dates, we don’t...

Personally, I have yet to be tired of hearing about news regarding Samsung’s Galaxy Tab.  Unfortunately, our latest offering isn’t big news like the teaser site going live , however, we have a bunch of new pictures courtesy of oled-display.net .  There’s a picture that reconfirms the Galaxy Tab will come with Android 2.2 Froyo, as well as a few that show off the large display and full  Read More →

TeleNav is releasing another handy application, OnMyWay into the Android Market today. You know TeleNav , don’t you?  They’re the brains behind your Sprint and AT&T navigation titles. To describe their new (free) app’s premise, I think it’s best to use it in a short hypothetical scenario. Let’s say you are on your way to a ten o’clock brunch meeting and you’ve got a an hour drive ahead of you....

An updated version of Google Earth (1.1) hit the Android Market this morning, adding a key component – oceans.  And it’s about time.  How can Google look themselves in the mirror and call it “Earth” if they omit nearly 3/4 of the planet?  All kidding aside, the new version is something special in that it lets users dive deep under the sea and check out videos and pictures of the terrain …  Read More →

Announced back in March around the time of CES, the Dell Aero has finally gone on sale .  For $99 and a two-year service agreement, customers can pick up the handset which features a 3.5-inch display, 5-megapixel camera, and removable 2GB MicroSD card.  Although it’s powered by a 624Mhz Marvell processor, the Aero sadly runs Android 1.5 (Cupcake).  Dell touts the potential 40,000 applications available, yet those of us with Android...

Engadget this morning released some in the wild images of the newly announced G2 !  If you look closely at the picture to the left, you will see that the G2 is indeed the HTC Vision as we mentioned last night on AGTN . There are a couple of things that come with T-Mobile’s announcement of the G2 and the release of these images.  The first being that we …  Read More →

Last night Facebook announced its new service titled “Places”, which lets users share their current location with friends. Unfortunately, at the time of the announcement, the functionality was only available on the iPhone application (and still is). Despite this limitation, Android users with HTML5 capable web browsers (Android 2.0 and above) can check out the new feature by visiting the Facebook mobile site at  touch.facebook.com...
