  I have an old Western Electric 302 rotary phone, and the handset is unusual in the fact that the wires are solid-cast in the handset (type F1)! Most F1 handsets are hollow down the middle, so wires can run through it. This one has cast-in wires, almost like a precursor to the integrated circuit/chip--and this was in 1938!
