  The Mistral (L9013) is an amphibious assault ship a type of helicopter carrier of the French Navy, the fourth vessel to bear the name, and lead ship of her class. The Mistral started her trials in January 2005, and was officially commissioned in February 2006. She departed from Toulon for her first long-range journey in March, sailing through the Mediterranean, Suez, and the Red Sea to Djibouti and India, before returning to France. In July, to ensure the safety of European citizens in the context of the 2006 Israel-Lebanon conflict, France set up Opération Baliste. The Mistral is the flagship of the system off Lebanon, escorted by the frigates Jean Bart and Jean de Vienne, and along with the Siroco. On 16 May 2008, the Burmese UN ambassador accused France of deploying the Mistral to the Burmese coast for military purposes, which the French UN ambassador denied, stating that she was instead carrying 1500 tons of relief supplies. In February 2010 it was announced that France had agreed to sell Russia a Mistral with a potential option for three more vessels.   Response to Vogter and Sarahon. Sarahon believes in Libertarianism, Vogter the State, my position is; Aircraft Carrier! I like the idea of a Libertarian society but see no short term solution for having one in my life time. Every successful model I think of that doesn't open the doorway to societal abuse takes at least 50-100 years. I'm not a big fan of Hobbes but lets face it, you can't discount his work entirely. And yes, I start off with another damned political rant. Sue me. It was hot and when it is hot I tend to ramble. Oh, if you do sue me, I will respond with my new Aircraft Carrier.   Deutsche Telekom's (DT) T-Mobile will likely be the next wireless carrier to get rights to carry Apple's (AAPL) iPhone, said Kaufman Bros. analyst Shaw Wu, according to the Silicon Valley Business Journal. T-Mobile is more likely than Verizon because T-Mobile's network wouldn't require Apple to rebuild the iPhone, Wu said. Deutsche Telekom shares are up 3.66%, or $0.40, to $11.33. Apple shares are up $4.23, or 1.74%, to $247.43.

  Motorola Inc. (NYSE:MOT) announced Friday that it has reached a deal with Verizon Wireless (NYSE:VZ) to carry and promote some of Motorola's soon-to-be-released smart phones, a huge plus for the company as it tries to boost its handset business to compete with Research in Motion Ltd's (NASDAQ:RIMM) BlackBerry devices and Apple Inc's (NASDAQ:AAPL) ever-popular iPhone family. Motorola's co-CEO Sanjay Jha opted to use Google Inc's (NASDAQ:GOOG) Android OS for last fall's Droid phone, and will do the same for two of its upcoming mobile devices slated to release this July. The Droid division is not owned by Motorola, however, with Verizon as the owner-carrier; Verizon passed on Motorola and instead chose Taiwan-based HTC Corp. to manufacture its new Droid Incredible. Motorola's mobile phone unit continues to lose an average of $22 per shipped device.
